Trees how to colour winter trees?

Well its all about trees I am experimenting with different things some plain out the box. Others are painted brown, grey or brown with a dusting of grey. I am still not sure what I will go with what do you think?

And here are some pictures to give a flavour of what the finished layout might look like.

  1. Not unusual to have a bit of snow in the crooks of the trees of course on the south side of the tree, this might melt out quick depending on the time of winter. December early January with the low sun angle that melt would be slower but by mid February, it would happen faster. Keep that in mind with the snow also. Snow melts slower on the nort side of the ties and rail.

    • Hey Ken, my plan is to have the snow to have different effects in each scene. so here in Ackerville its fresh snow. but round the corner out on the main it will be ballast with snow everywhere else because the faster trains blow the snow about and generally away from the main. Weathering i have a few ideas. Inks is one that will probably work well with this snow or chalks. we’ll see once i have the whole basic ground snow down some weathering will come into play.
